The Casty brand

The logo, colours and type we use, and the files to download. If you're writing about Casty, adding us to a partner page or making something for a venue that uses us, start here.

The glyph

On its own, the glyph does the job where there's no room for the whole logo: the app icon, the favicon, a social profile picture. It's built on a 100-unit square. From the bottom-left corner there's a quarter circle and two arcs, every band and every gap 14 units wide, and the rest of the square is solid with corners rounded to 14.

Colour

Two colours do most of the work. Midnight comes straight from the logo and Cast Blue from the app icon, with plenty of white round them. The rest are for text, lines and quiet backgrounds.

Type

One family, three cuts. All three are free under the SIL Open Font License, so anyone making something for Casty can use them.

Red Hat Display · Bold and ExtraBold · headings

Breakfast is on until half eleven

Red Hat Text · Regular and Semibold · body copy and interface

Change a price in the menu board and every screen showing that menu picks it up. Your team can do it without going near the layout designer.

Red Hat Mono · times, labels and anything you'd read off a schedule

07:00 to 11:30 · Breakfast
11:30 to 15:00 · Lunch

The arcs

The glyph's rings, carried on past the edge of the square. Same 14-unit bands and gaps, always from a corner and always cropped by whatever they sit in. They go behind screens on Midnight panels and across big Cast Blue panels. They're never a repeating pattern, and never sit behind text you need to read.

How we write

The same rules for the website, the docs, emails and anything that goes on a screen.

  • Plain and specific. Say what the screen shows and when, like "the breakfast menu until 11:30".
  • Write to the person running the venue. Contractions are fine; jargon isn't.
  • Name real things: menus, fixtures, offers, class times, screens and players.
  • UK spelling, sentence case for headings, and no exclamation marks.
